From: David Lingner [mailto:dlingner@sdccd.edu] Hi Chem 152L Students, Next week's lab is not in the lab manual. I have attached a copy of it here, and posted the same file on my website. Please print this file, read it, and bring it to class on Tuesday, Feb 26. For best results, and to save a tree, print it double-sided. See you next week! Thanks, |

From: David Lingner [mailto:dlingner@sdccd.edu] Subject: RE: proper combo locks for lockers Hi Chem 152L and Chem 100L students, Please see the notes below from our department chair and instructional support supervisor. I apologize for not enforcing the lock requirements until now. I think I’ve allowed a bit too much of a “grace period” regarding the locks. The requirement is that each pair of students who has checked into a lab drawer must keep it locked with a lock from the Miramar Bookstore (i.e., Master V-629 series locks). (The requirement is on the syllabus and on the check-in form that you signed on the first day.) You may purchase the lock elsewhere, but it must be a Master V-629 series lock. These locks have a combination on the front and allow keyed access from the back. You do not receive a key when you buy the locks. The stockroom personnel, however, do have the proper keys to open the locks. The main reasons for this arrangement are (1) to provide each pair of students with unique and secure access to the equipment for which they have claimed responsibility during the semester, and (2) to allow the stockroom personnel access to the drawers, mainly for safety reasons but also in case they need to restock the drawers with new equipment. Please ensure that you have the correct type of lock on your drawers. Beginning next Tuesday (2/26): Starting in two weeks, Tuesday (3/4): I apologize again for the lack of clear and prompt enforcement of this lab rule. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. See you next week, Dave Lingner ________________________________ From: Daphne Figueroa [mailto:dfiguero@sdccd.edu] Hi folks, Please see this important e-mail from Vuong, below. I know it may be a pain, but I really check carefully that all my students have the proper lock. I won't unlock their locker and exchange locks with them until they show me their lock, and then I mark on their inventory that it is correct. If you are teaching lecture only, please keep in mind for future reference when you do teach labs. Thanks for your help with this important lab issue.
