Rules for Exams and Quizzes - Updated 11/21/08
Chemistry 152 - Exam/Quiz Rules

Rules for quizzes and exams are always the same:

  • All papers, books, and backpacks on the floor. Nothing on your desk or table except your quiz, calculator, pen or pencil, and eraser. Water bottles or drinks are okay too.
  • No book.
    No notes of any form.
    No scratch paper.
    No computer or internet.
    No cell phones.
  • You may not wear a hat, sunglasses, or headphones.
  • Calculator is allowed, but not if it can accept text entry.
    • That is, if the calculator keys or the spaces next to the keys have the letters A through Z printed on them, so that the user can enter text, then the calculator is not permitted to be used. It does not matter if you have programs loaded on the computer or not.
    • A regular scientific calculator, where the user can enter and manipulate numbers, is allowed. Recommended calculator is the TI-30A or TI-30XA (solar).
    • No sharing of calculators is permitted.
  • If you allow another student to look at your paper during a quiz or exam, or if you look at someone else's exam, you will receive a maximum score of zero. See "Grades" link (blue bar on left side of page) for additional details on plagiarism.
  • I will be walking around the classroom during your quizzes and exams so that you may ask me questions to clarify anything, if necessary. I'll try to be as quiet as possible.
